Walt Disney stippelt Indiana Jones-universum uit

Het lijkt er op dat Disney en Lucasfilm’s plannen voor dee Indiana Jones franchise groter zijn dan slechts nog een film. Enkele maanden geleden werd bekend dat Indiana Jones 5 op 19 juli 2019 in de wereldwijde bioscoopzalen moet draaien. Nu laat Disney CEO Bob Iger weten dat Indiana Jones 5 slechts het begin is:

“Right now, we’re focused on a reboot, or a continuum and then a reboot of some sort…We’ll bring [Ford] back, then we have to figure out what comes next. That’s what I mean. It’s not really a reboot, it’s a boot — a reboot. I don’t know.”

ILM-baas Lynwen Brendann liet tijdens Star Wars Celebration los dat er wordt gewerkt aan een “Shared Indiana Jones Universe”:

“Kiri [Hart] and her group have mapped out a story and timeline across multiple platforms many years in advance, many exhausting years in advance. … We have a great honor to have responsibility for, so we want to be really careful with that. Not only for Star Wars but with Indiana Jones, which we’re all really excited about as well.”

Het zou dus zomaar kunnen dat we komende jaren ook een “Anthology Series” krijgen met prequels en andersoortige films.

Regisseur Steven Spielberg, wie alle vier de voorgaande delen heeft geregisseerd, zal wederom de regie op zich nemen voor het vijfde deel in de franchise. Tevens zal Harrison Ford wederom de iconische titelrol spelen. Franchise veteranen Kathleen Kennedy en Frank Marshall zullen Indiana Jones 5 produceren. John Williams keert terug voor de filmmuziek en scenarist David Koepp zal het script schrijven. De film staat gepland voor 19 juli 2019.
