Nieuwe trailer All the Money in the World met Christopher Plummer

Slechts negen dagen nadat de heropnames van start gingen, zijn de eerste beelden vrijgegeven van Christopher Plummer die de rol van miljardair-industriëel John Paul Getty in het aanstaande drama van Ridley Scott All the Money in the World overnam. Bekijk hieronder de nieuwe trailer.

Kevin Spacey was in eerste instantie in de rol gecast en was een paar maanden geleden in de eerste trailer van de film te zien. In de nasleep van het schandaal rondom hem, kondigde Scott drie weken geleden ambitieuze plannen aan om de rol opnieuw te casten met zijn oorspronkelijke keuze voor Plummer.

Scott sprak met EW over het nieuws rondom Spacey. Hij zei:

“I was finished with the film and was in [U.K. recording studio] Abbey Road finalizing the music. Someone was like: Guess what? And that’s where it began. I sat and thought about it and realized, we cannot. You can’t tolerate any kind of behavior like that. And it will affect the film. We cannot let one person’s action affect the good work of all these other people. It’s that simple.”

Tevens sprak hij over het vervangen van Spacey door Plummer:

“You have to know who you’re going to go for [to recast the role] and if he’s available. Chris [Plummer] was always on the list. So you find that out, but quietly, because you don’t want it going around. I flew into New York and met with [Plummer] and he said yes. So then we had to figure out if everyone else would be available to fit in these new days of shooting. Miraculously, they were. Before you can make the decision you have to make these quick phone calls around — not to the actors directly, but to the agents — saying there’s a possibility I may need some pickups [a.k.a. additional shooting days]. You don’t say why because of the gossip, but of course it was really for something much more significant.”

De misdaadthriller All the Money in the World gaat over de ontvoering van oliemagnaat-erfgenaam John Paul Getty III. De wanhopige moeder Gail Harris tracht er alles aan te doen om de grootvader van John zo ver te krijgen om in te gaan op de eisen van de ontvoerders. Fletcher Chase, een ex-CIA onderhandelaar, moet de partijen proberen te verenigen.

In de hoofdrollen zien Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg, Romain Duris, Charlie Plummer en Timothy Hutton. Het scenario is geschreven door David Scarape (The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Last Castle) en is gebaseerd op het boek door John Pearson. All The Money In The World moet op 11 januari in de Nederlandse bioscoop verschijnen.
