Matt Reeves regisseert officieel The Batman

Doet ‘ie het of doet ‘ie het niet? Na enkele weken van onduidelijkheid is nu officieel onthuld dat Matt Reeves (War of the Planet of the Apes) de regie op zich neemt van The Batman. Verleden maand zag Ben Affleck er van af om zowel in de film te spelen als deze te regisseren. Verleden week verscheen er het bericht dat Reeves zich had terug getrokken, maar blijkbaar is hij er toch uit gekomen met Warner Bros. Pictures. Toby Emmerich, President en Chief Content Officer bij Warner Bros. liet weten:

“We are thrilled to have Matt Reeves taking the helm of Batman, the crown jewel of our DC slate. Matt’s deep roots in genre films and his evolution into an emotional world-building director make him the perfect filmmaker to guide the Dark Knight through this next journey.”

Reeves voegde toe:

“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen.”

In The Batman moet Affleck het opnemen tegen Joe Manganiello in de rol van Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke. Andere rollen zijn er waarschijnlijk voor Jeremy Irons als Alfred en J.K. Simmons als Commissioner Gordon.
