Katie Holmes hoofdrol in filmadaptatie The Secret

Katie Holmes (All We Had, Logan Lucky en The Gift) zal de hoofdrol spelen in een filmadaptatie van The Secret, gebaseerd op het best-selling boek door Rhonda Byrne. Dit werd vandaag aangekondigd door Covert Media’s CEO Paul Hanson. Andy Tennent (Hitch, Sweet Home Alabama) zal de film regisseren en Robert Cort produceert samen met Hanson. Het scenario wordt geschreven door Bekah Brunstetter (This Is Us) samen met en schrijfpartner Rick Parks (Ever After: A Cinderella Story).

Een hardwerkende jonge weduwe met drie kinderen huurt een klusjesman in om haar huis te repareren tijdens een vreselijke storm. Naarmate de klusjesman dichter tot de familie komt, deelt hij zijn filosofie over de kracht van het universum om ons te geven wat we willen. De weduwe realiseert zich echter snel dat hij een geheime band heeft met haar verleden heeft.

Cort zei:

“Our filmmakers have created a compelling family love story that embodies the principles of ‘The Secret. We intend to make a film as funny, emotional and endearing as its message is hopeful.”

Rhonda Byrne voegde toe:

“I am so excited that the film version of ‘The Secret’ is finally here. This movie will not only be a great thrill for ‘The Secret’ fans across the planet, it’s also certain to ripple out and touch millions more people. ‘The Secret’ book was life changing for so many, and this movie continues that legacy within a stunning piece of entertainment.”

Hanson voegde toe:

“We are thrilled to be building ‘The Secret’ with such a powerful combination of talent, both acting and directing, all rooted in a truly heartwarming script and the globally well-known book.” 

Het boek werd voor het eerst gepubliceerd in 2006 en is al meer dan 30 miljoen keer verkocht wereldwijd.
