Jurassic World wordt een trilogie

In 2015 konden we de succesvolle sequel Jurassic World in de bioscopen bekijken. De film wist wereldwijd maar liefst $1,6 miljard op te brengen en een sequel werd vrij snel daarna aangekondigd door Universal Pictures. De Spaanse J.A. Bayona zal het stokje overnemen van Colin Trevorrow als regisseur van de sequel. Bayona bevestigt nu dat de film onderdeel zal zijn van een trilogie. Tegenover Latino Review zei hij:

“I think they love ‘The Impossible’ and ‘The Orphanage’—especially Colin (Trevorrow) loved those movies. It’s very interesting. The whole ‘Jurassic World’ is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned. We’re writing the second chapter, and it’s very interesting where he’s leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It’s very exciting right now.” 

Hoofdrolspelers Chris Pratt en Bryce Dallas Howard zullen terugkeren als Owen en Claire. Colin Trevorrow en Derek Connolly zullen het scenario weer schrijven voor de sequel. Frank Marshall en Steven Spielberg zullen de film produceren, die te zien zal zijn vanaf 21 juni 2018.
