Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wijkt misschien af van MCU-canon

James Gunn is momenteel al volop bezig met Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Het blijkt zelfs dat de regisseur en scenarist al een eerste versie geschreven heeft. Hij moet hiervoor echter wel wat veranderen aan de zogeheten canon van het Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), wil hij deze versie daadwerkelijk uitvoeren:

“I’m writing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and I finished the first draft of the treatment yesterday. I’m excited about it. I feel really great about it. But there’s one little thing that I had in the first movie, Now, Marvel Canon – MCU – is crazy … I did something in [Guardians of the Galaxy] where it was in the background but it was distinctly there, and people know that it’s there … I have a really good storytelling reason for breaking the canon, and I stayed up last night figuring out if I’m gonna do it or not. I still don’t know.”

“In the first movie there is the mugshot sequence where the characters go through and they’re going through the mugshots and having their picture taken. And the Nova Corps has information about each of the characters coming up on their machinery,” Gunn explained. “Those things are something that your average viewer doesn’t see at all. But there’s a lot of background I put into those things about who they’ve worked with, where they are from, what’s going on. And it’s one of those things that I’m thinking about changing.”

Aldus Gunn bij een recente E3-presentatie. Het echter nog niet bekend wanneer de derde Guardians of the Galaxy zal uitkomen. Het onlangs uitgekomen tweede deel draait nu nog in de bioscoop.

In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 gaat het team opnieuw op pad en doorkruisen zij de verste uithoeken van het heelal. Uiteraard doen ze dit geheel in eigen stijl, op de knallende en onmisbare muziek van Awesome Mixtape Vol. 2. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket en Baby Groot proberen het mysterie te ontrafelen rondom Peter Quill’s vader. Oude vijanden worden nieuwe vrienden en ondertussen moet het team er voor vechten om één te blijven.

De sequel is het vervolg op de in 2014 verschenen film Guardians of the Galaxy en de vijftiende film in de Marvel Cinematic Universe. De film is geschreven en geregisseerd door James Gunn.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 heeft hoofdrollen voor Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan en Kurt Russell.
